Turkey Roast Weekend
11/14-15 at CEDARS CAMPSITES and DANAHER PAVILION – DEER LAKE
 

 
DESCRIPTION of Weekend Open fire turkey roast feast (turkey/spuds/beans/stuffing/rolls/trimmings) open to all 474 scouts and their families, as well as Pack 472 & 475 families. Everyone is encouraged/invited to camp out over night. The feast and site fees are covered by Troop 474. Arrive as early on Saturday as you can to help tend the fire, prepare the meal, climb fat man squeeze, learn compass skills, campfire building, ultimate Frisbee…rank advance…have fun.

 

Leadership!  We have identified Scouts to lead hikes to Fatman Squeeze.  We also need fire starting demos, light weight stove demos, compass demos for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts for advancement.  Scouts who are not yet 1st Class should bring Scout books.

This is a good opportunity to break out the winter gear…treat it like a winter camping shakedown.
 
WHEN:
  Saturday 11/14 through Sunday11/15 morning. Fire building starts at 8:30 AM SHARP and turkey roasting starts at about 10:00. Dinner is expected to be served around 5:00 +/- depending. Patrols are encouraged to prepare easy breakfast for Sunday morning with expected early camp break down in time for Sunday morning church or weekly bathing.
 
WHERE: Deer Lake – Turkey roasting at Danaher Pavilion and camping at Cedars campsites.
 
WHO: 
Open to all Scouts & Scouters, families and friends …please come early on Saturday to help and have fun.  Everyone is encouraged to camp over.
 
WHAT TO BRING:
November is tricky weather. Be prepared. Rain gear and ability to layer clothing (yes to fleece, no to cotton). Follow the three season checklist.  All patrols and guests are responsible for their own camping gear and tenting arrangements.  The Troop 474 is providing turkey dinner. All other meals, snacks and provisions are the responsibility of the Troop patrols and guests. Although paper plates and plastic utensils and cups will be available, bring H2O containers and your favorite mess kit if you have.
